Food Revolution Friday #1

This might not be the HEALTHIEST tip ever but I think it would make a big change.

On the blisteringly hot Easter weekend, we introduced Bobby to the fantastic treat that is an ice cream cone.  He really enjoyed the ice cream but it seemed like most of his adventure revolved around the cone.  It holds the food and I can eat it???

A few days later he asked for another one after dinner and I didn’t want to load him with all that sugar so close to bed time so what to do?

I filled the cone with chopped strawberries and used 2 tablespoons of ice cream to make a sort of plug at the top of the cone.  After a few minutes he licked through the ice cream and was delighted to find the surprise inside.  From now on this will be my standard way of serving up an ice cream treat.

This post is my first contribution to Food Revolution Fridays. You should contribute as well!!!

On this day:

There’s probably a whole bunch of fun stuff you could put in that cone aside from ice-cream even — pudding, peanut butter and bananas, yoghurt and fruit..it might get a little messy. We used to get those minature cones — all the fun, less time to get really messy

I bet I could mash up a banana and mix it with either PB or yogurt (I think it would thicken the latter and thin out the former) and that would make a good plug for the top! I doubt that would be MORE messy than the ice cream… Miniature cones???
