A new perspective

Months ago, a friend (who shall remain nameless) and I were talking about the reasons to decide to have a kid. We decided that there really is no selfless reason to have one even though ‘everyone’ always says having a kid is so selfless.

Now that I have a kid, I still believe that people choose to have them for selfish reasons. But the act of caring for them is the selfless part. You give up everything to put them first, even if you don’t think you would. There are days when I go way too long without having eaten or peed just because it doesn’t fit in to how to best care for Bobby. I don’t do it on purpose, it just works out that way and I notice when I almost piss myself or get dizzy from surprise hunger.

On this day:

In 2006 – green brains!
In 2005 – my favorite photo of Brent

the thing is, this is not new info. you knew this before.
you just didn’t KNOW it like you do now.
It’s true what they say about having no idea until you are in it.
adoption (of a human, not a pet) is selfless.

  3. you rule for being such an amazing mom! 🙂 thank you (which sounds weird, but regardless, thank you for being a positive force in this world).
